Bitcoin Mining Calculator (BTC)
Break-even point (shutdown price)
BTC can drop 9% before mining becomes unprofitable.
BTC price and your shutdown price
Dashed line — your shutdown price for each day, at that day's network difficulty and block reward.
Over the last 4 years, your shutdown price went from $9,492 to $72,453: network difficulty grew 3.8×, and the April 2024 halving cut the block reward in half. BTC was below it on 119 days out of 1,461.
Revenue and costs
| Item | Per day | Per month | Per year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $9.63 | $288.90 | $3,515 |
| Pool fee | $0.00 | $0.00 | $0.00 |
| Electricity | −$8.75 | −$262.44 | −$3,193 |
| Net profit | +$0.88 | +$26.46 | +$321.88 |
| Mined, BTC | 0.000121 | 0.00362 | 0.0441 |
A month is 30 days and a year is 365 days at today's network difficulty and price; difficulty growth is not included.
Bitcoin (BTC) mining: profitability analysis
Bitcoin is the largest and most secure Proof-of-Work network in the world. For a miner, success depends not only on powerful hardware (ASICs) but on a clear understanding of the economics.
Shutdown price: the key number
The shutdown price is the BTC price at which the coins you mine just cover your electricity bill. If the price falls below it, mining loses money. The chart above shows it as a dashed line over the price history, so you can see how far the price has been from it.
Every miner has their own shutdown price. It depends on:
- your ASIC's efficiency (power per hashrate, J/TH);
- your electricity rate;
- current network difficulty, which adjusts every 2016 blocks, roughly every 2 weeks.
FAQ
Where can I track network difficulty and block time?
Network difficulty adjusts to the combined hashrate of all miners so that a block is found every 10 minutes on average. The current difficulty is in the “Network” card; the next adjustment forecast and the chart are on the Bitcoin difficulty page, and total network power is on the hashrate page.
Is mining profitable with expensive electricity?
At rates above $0.10 per kWh, chip efficiency is what matters most: previous-generation machines quickly reach their shutdown price. Enter your ASIC's numbers — the calculator shows net profit after electricity.
How do transaction fees affect revenue in 2026?
The calculator counts the block subsidy only. Fees temporarily lift miner revenue when the network is busy, but long-term plans shouldn't rely on them: building on the block reward keeps your estimate conservative.
How often should I recalculate profitability?
At least every two weeks — after each difficulty adjustment. That way you'll see when it's time to move to more efficient hardware.
